TO PLAN THIS EVENT, WE NEED TO KNOW ASAP WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
YOU ARE NEEDED!
Families, Self-Advocates, Direct Support Staff, Professionals: Please join us as we meet with our legislators in their Manhattan offices to discuss critical issues affecting people with developmental disabilities and their families!

We must tell our legislators that additional funds are urgently needed for services for people with developmental disabilities for:
·       the development of critically needed out-of-home residential opportunities, as well as day and employment services
·       salary increases for the dedicated staff who provide hands-on care to keep people with developmental disabilities healthy and safe
·       increased funding for vital, yet grossly underfunded,  Early Intervention and Preschool services
We’ll begin the day at 10:00-11:30 with a Briefing Session to explain the important issues. Everyone will get written “talking points.”
Next, from 12:00 to 2:00, we will do Group Visits to our legislators in their Manhattan offices to voice our concerns and ask for their help.
We assure you that it won’t be difficult or intimidating–all you need to do is tell your story.
IMPORTANT: BRING PHOTO ID for entry into government buildings.
Parents: Also bring a photo of your child.

R.S.V.P. now to: Margaret Puddington at margaret.puddington@gmail.com or 212-799-2042. Give her your name, address with zip code, phone, and e-mail.
