Discussion- Manhattan Family & Professional Resource Fair 2015

Updates were provided on the upcoming Manhattan Family and Professional Resource Fair scheduled for Monday, December 14, 2015 at the New York Academy of Medicine at 1216 Fifth Avenue at 103rd Street, New York, NY, 10029 from 10:00 AM to 2 PM with doors opening at 9:30 AM.

  1. The space is secured. There will be three breakout rooms and two rooms for vendors. The venue can accommodate approximately 70 vendors. 50 vendors are already confirmed. 20 others haven’t submitted payment as of yet.
  2. DDPC approved $2500.00 for food purchases. Cathy will go to Costco to buy a variety of non-perishable snacks which can be stuffed in the parents/professional bags.
  3. Raffle ticket will be given during registration. Raffle will be held on the 3rd floor at 12 noon.
  4. Trish is presently seeking volunteers to assist during the event. Volunteers must facilitate the flow of people throughout the event. They should also ensure that evaluations are completed.
  5. Janet Davis needs between 9-10 volunteers for the registration tables.
  6. 2-3 people are needed to mandate the information table. Said people should be able to redirect individuals to the vendor floors and answer any questions/concerns.
  7. Translation-A request was put in for DOE to translate brochure to Chinese and provide translation during workshops. DOE has confirmed this information and has agreed to provide said services free of charge.
  8. Margaret Puddington will handle Moderator Packets.
  9. AV- As of today Gary Shulman is the only presenter who will be using power point presentation. Margaret Puddington will follow-up with the rest of the presenters regarding their needs for AV equipment.
  10. Directory-The city of New York will Xerox the directories. Someone needs to pick them up and distribute to the venue.
  11. Chinese and English brochure are being proofread and will be printed.
  12. Yesenia and Claudia will enlarge the agendas and signs to put on each floor (venue offers 7 easels).
  13. On Friday, December 11, 2015 a group of volunteers will meet at the venue to bag the snacks and prepare the parent/professional bags.

Discussion- New location/s for future Family Support Committee Meetings

The Family Support Committee Chairperson informed all members that effective February 2016 The YAI conference room can no longer be used for the FSC monthly meetings. Members discussed alternative meeting places such as the DDRO at Beaver street, Sinergia, and AHRC. This discussion will continue in our next meeting.
