VI. IAC -Suzanne T

    • IAC is collaborating with other child advocacy groups in order to support education providers
    • IAC is focusing on supporting the agencies so that the end point is that the families can be supported. Numbers speak. The more the different agencies collaborate the stronger we are.
    • New York Disability Advocates is a newly formed coalition of Provider Associations. The goal is to combine together in a unified way to advocate for the needs of the provider community.
    • Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Budget (DOB) are in charge of where money comes from. OPWDD may be supportive of our efforts but they do not have the final say therefore working with DOH will help to enhance the people we can interact with

VII. Committee

Family & Provider Information CommitteeCo-Chairs: Carol Lincoln and Jackie Ceonzo

Rebecca Watson from Wallach of NYACK spoke. It was a successful meeting.

Last meeting was on Tuesday September 10th. Adapt Community Network gave the presentation. They covered a wide range of topics from ISS to durable medical equipment.  It was very informative. Many people from the CCO’s came and that was great.

Next meeting will be October 15th. It will be a CCO panel to give an update

Legislative Committee: Co-Chairs Jim Malley & Lynn Decker

  • The breakfast will be March 6th. Preparation will begin in December
  • Be fair campaign has run its course and there is no more money however there has been no more money for 9 years. The Be fair will be transitioned into something more mainstreamed.
  • Federal Level is a proposal to do away with anyone is becoming a public charge which could be anyone who is here without proper documentation.
  • Rates – the process has taken so long that what should have been given to agencies in April and May has not been given. This becomes even more difficult for people who will be losing money as it is a retroactive loss. The Reimbursement to agencies is very slow. The rates can change a few times a year which causes a lot of issues for the agencies as to when they will be getting money and when will it be recouped.

Manhattan FSS Advisory Council: Co Chairs Jackie Goldberg and Mary McGuire-Weafer

Tuesday October 15th is a joint meeting with the new transition Committee! The topic is “Successful transition to Adult Services “

Mary and Mary met with Liz…..to talk about the budget and what we want.
