Innovative Ideas Workshop – September 19, 2012

On Wednesday, September 19, 2012, OPWDD will hold the third in a series of workshops showcasing innovative ideas collaborating groups of nonprofit agencies are developing, as they look for ways to support people with developmental disabilities under the People First Waiver. This Innovative Ideas workshop will be held via statewide videoconference from 9:30 am until noon, and will be followed by a one-hour working lunch at each videoconference site in which participants will offer feedback to OPWDD.

Two groups are scheduled to present at this workshop: CDS Monarch will present information on “Caretracker,” its new electronic record keeping system. CDS Monarch will also detail its efforts to partner with for-profit companies to generate meaningful work in employment programs, and about the creation of comprehensive housing opportunities for senior citizens with developmental disabilities in western New York. The second group, Maranatha Human Services, will offer insight into the creation of “Caregivers, Homes and Choices”—a person-centered support model developed by small and medium-sized agencies with strong histories of providing culturally appropriate services to people with developmental disabilities in the New York metropolitan area.

Registration is limited, and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline for registration is 5 pm on Friday, September 14, 2012. To sign up to participate in this workshop, please email the People First Waiver liaison in your area.
