Manhattan Crisis Intervention- We provide support with behavior management, toilet training, counseling and support connecting with other services including OPWDD eligibility. To place a referral, you can reach out to 212-273-6200 or email manhattancrisisintervention@yai.org

Socialization Skills- a socialization program for people ages 9 and up with a diagnosis of autism. There are 10 weekly sessions in the fall and spring. Some of the topics reviewed include friendships, communication, social boundaries, etc.
Parents with Special Needs- PWSN empowers parents with developmental disabilities through direct support and skills training, to become more independent and successful parents. Some of the topics reviewed include parenting and family empowerment, skills training that include infant care, behavior management, safety awareness, time management and other topics. Parents must have parental rights of the child.
Independent Living Skills- 18 years+. This program features ongoing weekly group sessions spread across two semesters (10 weeks each). Topics covered include budgeting, nutrition & kitchen safety, decision making, problem solving, community & internet safety, stress management.
GHO
Services available: Day hab, day hab without walls, prevocational, non-Medicaid case management to assist families seeking OPWDD eligibility, evaluations, CCO referral, family reimbursement, assistance for Chinese & Korean speaking families. As well as CDNY

Summertime Gallery – an art studio + gallery for artists with and without disabilities pushing towards a more inclusive art world. We currently have two exciting groups we have during the week.
Studio Hours is a virtual group where we use different prompts, materials, and mediums to create art together. This is less of a step by step class but more of an art family/community where artists encourage and support each other.
Our second group is Art Walks + Talks. This hybrid group consists of visiting art museums or galleries in person every other week, and the opposing week we are virtual and create art using inspiration from the week prior. This group is great for those who want to immerse themselves in the NYC art world.

- Need to have less reliance on staff in the home

This technology starts at the planning during the life plan.
There are simple low tech ideas such a bowls that don’t move or garbage cans that you just have to wave over for it to open. There are a range of low tech ideas. Even the ring doorbell can be utilized as low tech.
Home enabling supports(HES)
Increase, maintain or improve person’s safety in the home
Increase maintain or improve person’s independence in the home
Increase maintain or improve person’s health outcomes
Increase maintain or improve person’s Participate in the community
Minimize the reliance on or the deferral of paid staff for supervision and/or assistance
HES are for people who are living at home or on their own. It is currently not for residential
New support options
III. State News – Samrawitt Tadesse
- RFA for Reginal heath centers. Common themes that they are getting left behind with accessibility. 2m million dollars for Reginal Health clinics. The RFA went live in 2025 and closed in November 2025. Awards should be announces 2026 Spring
- Home Enabling Supports- address person’s needs to help a person’s abilities and imagination and make meaningful relationships , participate in the community and work in the community.
- PCCS, Adapt and center for family support have been chosen in region 4. WE are working with ITS to work on the intake. WE are hoping to have tis services available in 2026.
- OPWDD is nearing it’s end of their partnership with Georgetown university. The information collected will bae available in Spring of 2026.

V. IAC Report – Kate Hoy
- IAC is returning from Lobby days last week There were over 150 meetings with law makers.
Education and Ei
- The governor did not put anything into her budget. There are places upstate that do not have any in person providers.
- More than 42 % of children who receive EI do not Special education Services. The earlier we can access services the more that helps the child.
- We need lawmakers to make EI a priority. We are currently 48th in the country.
- Implement the 5% rate increase that was already promised.
- 8% increase/stabilization dollars to implement a rate study so NY State can even do a study to see how underfunded they are.
- Administrative stabilization. A moratorium pause on any regulation changes
Education
- Fund Fade 22. The state needs to amend the education law so that students who turn 22 in the school year can stay in school. This will fund the school districts to keep children in school for the rest of the school year.
- ETTPP additional 10 million dollars
- IAC conference March 5th in partnership with Eden 2 and Qsac. Autism and Aging $100 for IAC members and $150 for non members
- OPWDD has proposed regulations for people who can receive services from an Article 16 clinic. IAC is concerned for individuals who do not have OPWDD eligibility. They are concerned about them getting squeezed out of services. There is comment available until March 1

April 22 Guardianship and future planning. The first meeting will be on Zoom. The next meeting April 29th will be in person. You need to be at the first meeting to come to the second meeting.
