Consolidated Supports and Services (CSS):

This is a more individualized approach to combine services and supports under one umbrella. Under CSS one has a Broker who works with the family and the MSC. It is the Broker who writes the budget and the CSS Plan while the MSC writes the ISP. It is the individual, if capable, or the family who can hire and fire their own Broker, which can be a family member, but the family member will not get paid. Or, that Broker can be from outside the family and in this case the Broker will get paid for the services. Regardless, before one can become a broker one must attend a 3 day training and obtain a certificate. This training focus’ on the following: how to create and write a budget, as well as learning how to create and write a CSS Plan. If one is receiving Consolidated Supports and Services one can also receive other services such as Day Hab. The contact person for CSS at Metro DDRO Manhattan is Alteaha Chase at 646 766-3320.

Status of 2014 Graduates:

The school transition staff reported on the number of graduates they have and the status of where they are in the process of securing adult services. It is estimated that approximately 110 students will be seeking services through OPWDD. Of these, approximately 34 have placements identified. The remainder are all still in the process of having evaluations and OPWDD Eligibility Determinations completed. It was re-iterated again that all 2014 Graduates will need to go through the Front Door Process and the school staff continue to work with Evette Herdsman from Metro DDRO.
