  The Front Door:

The new Front Door approach is OPWDD’s initiative which gives individuals who are seeking services for the first time or who are interested in modifying their current plans as many opportunities as possible to direct their own services. This initiative will begin in June 2013.  It will provide a consistent process for individuals to be informed of all OPWDD service options.  The process will generally include the following steps:

  1. Initial Contact with the individual/family
  2. Eligibility Determination
  3. Assessment of service/support needs
  4. Authorization of Services
  5. Service Planning & Identification of Supports
  6. Service Implementation

How this impacts students transitioning into Adult Services will be discussed at our next meeting on June 12th.
